Compassion Into Action

Volunteers are the heart of our organization

At The Living Room, all new volunteers start by filling out a Volunteer Application. Because we’re deeply committed to creating a safe and welcoming environment for the women and children we serve, we ask all applicants to complete an interview and background check. Once you’re approved, you’ll be welcomed to our campus—and you can start making a difference right away!

We have two campuses where volunteering is needed, the Life Center which serves our participants daily and our Cleveland Campus, which supports our day-to-day operations and food program.

Volunteer

If you are part of a social group, organization, or business that would like to do a group volunteering project here at The Living Room, please fill out the application below. Previous groups have done everything from painting houses and landscaping, to donation sorting, furniture assembly, and food service support. Please let us know if your group has specific skilled labor or any financial support for your upcoming project!

Life Center

Opportunities for volunteer involvement at our Life Center can take many shapes. Some ways to volunteer are as a receptionist, a greeter, snack room monitor, computer guide, life coach, resume writing help, recovery specialist and more.

Garden Team

The Living Room’s campus is largely highlighted by our beautiful garden. Garden volunteers would work in coordination with our Facilities Manager for weekly upkeep, maintenance, and other miscellaneous projects.

Kitchen Team

Each morning, The Living Room provides up to 175 hot meals a day to our residents and to partner organizations for distribution. Kitchen volunteers work in coordination with our Food Services Manager to prepare these delicious, nourishing meals.

Maintenance and Repair Team

Our resident living spaces could use the help of some handy volunteers! Maintenance volunteers would work in coordination with our Facilities Manager for occasional repair and carpentry work.

Distribution Team

Distribution volunteers work in coordination with our Kitchen and Outreach teams to package our daily hot meals and deliver them to partner organizations. (A vehicle and clean driving record is required for this volunteer position.)
